Sinclair C5

Even though it’s not a computer, Sinclair C5 certainly deserves its place in PEEK&POKE Computer Museum for several reasons. Sinclair C5 is the brainchild of the legendary Sir Clive Sinclair – the man behind ZX80, ZX81 and ZX Spectrum computers, which were undeniably popular home computers in Europe in the early 1980’s.

Sinclair C5 is a vehicle with three wheels and electric motor (and an additional pedal). Unfortunately, due to number of problems (lack of power-up hills, unconformity of weather conditions in UK, etc.), and the fact that Sinclair C5 was a concept way ahead of its time, the project was a failure. In total, there were only 12,000 models produced worldwide in few months in 1985 – and one of those models is here with us at PEEL&POKE Computer Museum!
